Storm Barra Live: Cars stuck in ice and roads confined ahead of weather…

TrafficWatch NI warned motorists to avoid certain roads in Ballyclare on Monday night, after icy conditions led to reports of several cars getting stuck.

It came as Northern Ireland was braced for Storm Barra, with winds speeds of 75mph or more expected. A yellow weather warning for rain and wind is place from 6am on Tuesday morning.

Collin Road, Moorfields Road, and Rashee Road were confined by a number of stranded vehicles, including a Roads Service gritter.

TrafficWatch requested that police closed the road so that the vehicles can be recovered and the road gritted.

The warning was issued at 22:05, and motorists were asked to avoid the area until the incident is cleared, although there’s currently no calculate of what time this may be.

A later update said the roads had now been treated, cars moved and the route had reopened.

Ballyclare’s cold weather is expected to continue throughout the week.

We’ll bring you updates from Northern Ireland’s roads by the night.
